Yes you read that right!!!
DOUBLE FEATURE!!!!

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve done a double feature and this one is
definitely worth the wait!!! This month we are ecstatic to welcome Abominicky and
Ichigorose to The Variant family!! These amazing ladies have been coming by the
photo booth at conventions and getting their pictures taken with us or by us since
around 2016 and have always been just the sweetest and most fun to talk to or
shoot with. For November this dynamic duo has brought us some of their favorite
cosplays which were shot by Photography Director Tomisina Lynn at
Fred Fletcher Park and the NC Art Museum both in Raleigh, NC.

Nicky (Abominicky) has been cosplaying since 2021. Local to Charlotte, North Carolina,
Nicky got her start attending nearby conventions, where she partnered with friends to enter cosplay contests and masquerades. Since then, she has developed a focus on prop-making,
which entails working with her 3D printer, EVA foam, as well as frequent trips to the
hardware and craft stores. Nicky is an avid convention attendee and is currently
working toward building some of her dream cosplays. She is so grateful for her
“found family” i.e. the close friends and community that has supported her since day one,
without which she never would have found the confidence and
expertise to even begin her cosplay journey. Nicky is always looking
forward to the next convention shewill attend, the next skill
she can learn, and the next friend she can meet.

Rose (Ichigorose) is a seasoned cosplayer who started cosplaying when she
was 11 years old. Her cosplay journey began in 2013 when she met two local
cosplayers at a craft store. As they told her about conventions and the
loving communitythat came with them, Rose knew this was where she belonged.
Rose has since grown a love for the competition and knowledge aspects of cosplay. She’s always challenging herself to find a new skill to improve or learn, and she is working towards becoming a “Master” in her craft. One piece of advice that Rose wants to pass on to both
experienced and beginner cosplayers is to unapologetically be yourself and to always remember:
“You are enough. You are so enough, it’s unbelievable how enough you are.”

For November, Nicky brought us her Amity from The Owl House and Shinobu from Demon Slayer while Rose brought Jinx from League of Legends and Madoka from Madoka Magica!!!
